If a product code is discontinued but stock is still available, you should make
the product discontinued. Even if no stock is available, you may prefer to
make the code discontinued and set up an alternative product code to convert
to, rather than delete the product code.
1. Select Gx Stock on the toolbar.
2. Select Product Details from the menu.
3. Enter the stock code.
4. Click on the General tab.
5. Select Discontinued from the Status drop-down menu. Now when you
enter the code on a sales order, it will warn you that the code is
discontinued but physical stock available still allowing you to sell it under
this code.
6. If an alternative product code replaces the discontinued one, enter the new
code in the Superceeded Product Code field. This will only be applied
when there is no physical stock of the discontinued code. Now when you
enter the discontinued product code into an order, and it will warn you that
the code is discontinued and convert it to the superceeded code. When
familiar with the new code, you may wish to delete the discontinued
product.
