Having used the VAT Return program to obtain the amount you owe, you now
need to post a nominal journal to enter the VAT payment through the system.
1. This follows on directly from the VAT Return instructions. I.e. Select Gx
Nominal in the toolbar.
2. Select VAT Return from the menu.
3. Enter the Start Date and End Date to include in the report.
Be careful to
include the correct dates for the current VAT period.
4. Enter the VAT Period No. that these dates relate to. The VAT figures
for this period will be displayed.
5. Click the Select button.
6. Click the Pay VAT button.
7. The Amount to Pay is already filled in with the required amount from the
VAT Return, but you can amend this if required.
8. Bank Account Nominal Code - select the nominal code for your bank
account that the payment/repayment is being made from or paid into.
9. VAT Nominal Code - select the nominal code for you VAT Control
Account.
10. Enter a Journal Reference for this journal, e.g. "VAT Payment Quarter
1".
11. Click Ok.
12. Click Yes to confirm that you wish to pay this VAT amount. You will be
returned to the VAT Return screen and the amount due will be re-calculated, i.e. it will be 0 if you paid the VAT due in full.
13. Close this screen. The transactions are posted to the nominal ledger
and you can use Nominal Transaction Enquiry to view them.
